(How to) install EasyDL to the Integrated Barcode Scanner

Installing EasyDl to Integrated Barcode Scanner
  1. Start EZConfig Scanning. if EZConfig Scanning cannot connect to the scanner, you will see the following dialog box. If this happens, click the OK button and continue with the next step. If you do not see this message, continue with step 5 below. 
  2. Select Scan Data in the Application Explorer portion of the EZConfig window as shown below.           
  3. Click on File in the main menu and then select Preferences.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
  4. In the Preferences dialog box shown below, click the drop down combo box labelled Com Port and select Honeywell N5600. Click the OK button.                                                                              
  5. The lower left corner of the EZConfig window will show a picture of the scan engine along with the serial number of the device. If you are loading EasyDL on multiple PatrolPC tablets, you will need to match this serial number with the EasyDl license file in step 10 below.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  
  6. In the Application Explorer part of EZConfig Scanning (on the left side of the window), click on Download (yellow arrow). EZConfig scanning should change to the following window. In the part of the screen labelled Firmware Download (red circle), click the ellipsis button (yellow arrow).                                                                                  
  7. In the Open dialog box shown below, navigate to the folder that holds the EasyDL plug-in firmware and click the Open button. The name of the EasyDL plug-in firmware file is BF000060AAF.moc. 
  8. Click the Download To Device button. While EZConfig Scanning is downloading the plug-in, do not power down your PatrolPC tablet. You will see the following dialog box showing the progress of the download. 
  9. When the download is complete, you will see the following. Click the OK button.                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  10. Locate the EasyDL license file that corresponds to the serial number of the integrated barcode scanner determined in step 5 above. The following image is an example. Print this file and scan the barcode on page 2. The scanner will beep to indicate it has accepted the license.                                                                                                                     
  11. The follwing steps are optional and allow you to test the EasyDL you just downloaded and licensed. In the Application Explorer part of the EZConfig Scanning (on the left side of the window), click on Scan Data (yellow arrow). EZConfig Scanning will change to the following window. If the Scan Data Window contains data, click Edit on the main menu and then click Clear All Data from the drop down menu. This will make the Scan Data Window look like the one below. 
  12. Scan the PDF417 barcode on the back of a driver's license. The default EasyDl output is first name, middle initial, last name. If you see something similar to this in the Scan Data Window, you have loaded and licesed EasyDL correctly.
  13. If you see something like the following with some of the letters replaced with an X, you loaded EasyDl correctly but it is not licensed. Repeat step 10 above.                                                                             
  14. If you see a long stream of character, EasyDl did not load correctly. Repeat these steps from the beginning.
  15. Configure EasyDL for the software you use. Each software application has its own EasyDl configuration and instructions.
